We are now finally poised to present our long-delayed spring concert The British are Coming at the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center (The Kate) in Old Saybrook on May 22. It was great to see that our audience was still there, and as enthusiastic as ever. We went from holding in-person rehearsals for concerts we had to cancel, to Zoom rehearsals wherein we prepared virtual entertainment which was fortunately well-received, to an uncharted yet successful return to live performances this past December. Since the Covid-19 pandemic started, however, with the setbacks it presented, our existence was shaken to its core. The chorus, a standard-bearer for a powerful and accomplished mix of high-caliber performance, community activism, empowerment, and inclusiveness, has been established as an icon among Connecticut’s LGBT organizations for over 35 years. The last two years have been a very challenging time for The Connecticut Gay Men’s Chorus, as they have been for almost anyone and anything.
